Painting of CFRP parts for the aircraft industry
New treatment processes are required especially for CFRP parts (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) in aircraft painting. This also means that the requirements having to be met by work booths and paint spray booths and their equipment are different.
A ventilation system for each individual zone guarantees the necessary air quality in the specific working zone and due to the smaller ventilation units, reduces investment and operating costs at the same time.
The booths, which are especially developed by Dürr, can be equipped with wall-supported mobile work platforms or alternatively with paint application robots.
A first order has already been won from Airbus for the airplane A350XWB, which consists more than 50% of CFRP. At 7 EADS locations, fuselage and wing components made of carbon fiber material are pretreated, coated and dried.
