Dürr FAS to supply a new test line for Ferrari

Püttlingen, March 20, 2007 – Dürr Factory Assembly Systems (FAS) is to supply a new test line for all models produced by Ferrari at Maranello, Italy. As from May of this year Dürr technology will ensure that these Italian sports cars are fully tested and roadworthy.
The new test line will comprise 30 stations fed by automatic conveyors operating in stop-and-go modus. Core elements are two wheel alignment machines, each of which is combined with a headlight aiming stand and integrated conveyor equipment. Here parameters such as toe, camber and castor are measured and set on front and rear axles. At the same time driver assistance systems, ESP and intelligent headlight systems are also checked prior to road use.
Other central items of equipment include the proven x-road roller test rig, where brakes and a wide range of functions are tested, as well as an acoustic vibration roller test rig where vibro-acoustic vehicle noises are analyzed and suspension components settle into place.
The test line will be equipped with Dürr’s FAStronic state-of-the-art testing and parameterization concepts. These allow a flexible and intelligent distribution of testing tasks including those on infotainment components.
Dürr Assembly Products at Püttlingen will design and supply the test equipment while the Italian Dürr FAS company CPM S.p.A. of Beinasco near Turin will provide conveyor systems together with booth and ventilation equipment. It was this comprehensive competence that persuaded Ferrari to place a turnkey order for the plant with Dürr.
