New Final Assembly Contract for Dürr FAS from China

Dürr Factory Assembly Systems (FAS) are gaining a foothold in the Chinese final assembly market. The contract that has just been awarded by DPCA (DongFeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile) for delivery of the conveyor systems for a new final assembly shop at the Wuhan plant is proof for this. The value of this order totals € 3.6 million.
DPCA is a joint venture between the Chinese car manufacturer DongFeng Motors and the French PSA Group. Dürr FAS will supply a pre-sorting and relief buffer between the existing paint shop and the final assembly shop. A Power & Free conveyor will be installed in the trim and chassis line. In the body-chassis marriage area we will be installing a slat conveyor with integrated pallet support, whereas in final assembly vehicles will be transported by a twin slat conveyor.
This project covers only the first expansion stage of this new final assembly shop, the objective being the assembly of 10 vehicles per hour. Further expansion stages are planned to increase output to 34 cars per hour.
A deciding factor for winning this order from the third biggest automobile manufacturer in China was the high local content. Seven different vehicle models such as e.g. the Peugeot 307 or the Xsara Picasso will be processed and assembled on these production lines. The first vehicles will leave the slat conveyor at the end of this assembly line in October 2006.
