Nissan to use new door conveyor by Dürr Factory Assembly Systems
09/22/2006
Stuttgart, September 22, 2006 – Dürr Systems Spain S.A. has just been awarded with a contract from Nissan in Barcelona to install a new door conveyor. This Power and Free installation is one of the longest door conveyors in P&F technology that ever has been installed in Spain.
On a length of approximately 1,080 meters the new Power and Free conveyor will transport three different types of doors. Thus, it will increase the quality in the assembly shop as doors are not taken off the car in the current production process.
The new installation will work as follows: The doors will be removed from the car and loaded to the transport unit. Each hanger will carry two doors of the same car to the door dressing line with fourteen workstations. A belt-driven man mover moving below the overhead conveyor in the same speed allows a time saving and efficient working process. Once the doors are dressed they will be transported to the unloading stations. After unloading they will be assembled to the same car they have been taken off initially. Dürr Factory Assembly Systems (FAS) supplies Nissan, as well, with 200 new hangers for this line.
Conveying of doors with the new Power and Free installation will start early in January 2007.
