Dürr FAS x-cal certification authorized by Accreditation Body
08/02/2007
Püttlingen, August 2, 2007 – Regular calibration is required for measuring equipment of all kinds. This also applies, of course, to the roller test beds used in the automotive industry. To meet this need Dürr Factory Assembly Systems (FAS) has developed a mobile test unit, x-cal, at the company’s Test Laboratory at Püttlingen, Germany. Official recognition of the Test Laboratory as a certified calibration laboratory complying with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 has already been given by the Accreditation Body.
x-cal, being a mobile test unit, travels to the customer. Dürr FAS uses the calibration unit to examine all roller test beds on the customer’s premises – most frequently to check assessment of brake force; a task that involves evaluating each pair of rollers on the test bed individually. x-cal is not bound by the design of the test bed and can therefore be used on a great many types of twin roller and single roller test beds with rollers of 400 mm to 1,200 mm in diameter.
x-cal provides a complete range of calibration possibilities. These include dynamic brake force measurement as well as the determination of the speed and moment of inertia of each set of rollers. The unit offers the great advantage of allowing calibration of end of line roller test beds to be carried out on fully assembled and installed test beds; this reduces the time required for testing, and of production downtime associated with it, to a minimum. As it operates as an independent, self-contained unit, x-cal is both mobile and flexible in use.
On completion of each test the accredited Test Laboratory issues a detailed test report – and if specifically requested by the customer – a calibration certificate that complies with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. Should any faults be identified during calibration the specialist personnel from Dürr FAS are able to correct these.
