Dürr in Brazil – Moving forward with optimism

Dürr has been represented in Brazil for
over 40 years.

Dürr has been represented in Brazil for over 40 years – the year 2008, however, heralds a new beginning: After a disastrous fire, which destroyed the company’s facilities at São Paulo almost completely in mid 2006, Dürr will be celebrating the official opening of its new premises with a big Open House event on January 22 and 23. With a high level of incoming orders behind it, the company is looking to its future in the South American growth markets with optimism.

Dürr Brasil was founded in 1964 as the first Dürr company to be established outside Germany abroad. Today, 90 people are employed at São Paulo working for six of the Group’s business units. The trend is positive as Dürr Brasil is expanding its business volume throughout South America. Most recently, for example, Renault and the Japanese OEMs Honda and Mitsubishi were won over as new customers. Business with longstanding customers also remains in focus. In the past forty years Dürr has installed many plants and continues to assist those customers with innovative concepts for modernization. On such projects Dürr Brasil operates as a service provider, not only offering technical support at the plant location but also maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the customer – through product roadshows and technical workshops.

Rising order volumes indicate that after a long period of stagnation the Brazilian economy has once more found momentum. The auto industry is investing again: older production facilities are being modernized and new plants are being planned. In 2007 Dürr Brasil received a number of interesting orders by renown OEMs, among them Volkswagen, General Motors, Peugeot and the private investor CAOA, a company that produces Hyundai vehicles under license.  Another highlight was the dismantling and shipping of a paint shop from Argentina to India for re-installation at Asia Motors Works (AMW).

The new facilities at São Paulo certainly reflect the upbeat mood of optimism at Dürr Brasil: Open space rooms with plenty of light encourage team oriented work processes and are a clear indication of their prime purpose: maintaining dialogue with the customer so that by working together the best solution can be found.

Dürr Brasil extends an invitation to all subscribers to visit the Open House event being held at the company’s new premises on January 22 and 23, 2008.
