Flexible balancing system CENO – The new standard for efficient crankshaft finish machining
With the CENO, Schenck RoTec presents a new total solution for the automatic balancing of small and medium-sized crankshafts. On a footprint of less than 4 m2, this twin station machine is space saving, precise and user friendly.
No matter whether single cylinder or V6 crankshafts – all common crankshaft types measuring up to 500 mm in length and weighing up to 20 kg can be balanced fast and accurately with this mono block machine. Depending on the manufacturing strategy involved, the CENO can be configured for either manual or automatic loading. Since it is designed for simultaneous processing of two crankshafts, it can replace up to four manual balancing systems. The operator loads the unbalanced crankshaft and removes the balanced part – all other process steps (unbalance measurement and correction) are carried out automatically. Cycle times of well below one minute have been achieved during practical tests.
With the CENO, Schenck RoTec has produced the most efficient balancing centre in its class to date. The use of energy saving drives and the consistent application of light construction principles as well as dispensing with inefficient hydraulic and cooling systems have all contributed to lowering operating costs by 35 per cent. The basis for effective working with the CENO is created by the advanced and consistent operating concept of the machine: The mechanical set up is quick and easy, the measurement system (CAB 950) and the control equipment (Siemens) are self explanatory, the many operating aids (such as the multi-function button) guide the user through the process and all functions of the machine are very easily accessible. Further productivity advantages of the CENO include easy loading, dispensing with master weights, fast tool changeover and simple swarf disposal. Operation of this balancing centre can be mastered in a very short time and all in all the CENO convinces as a thoroughly cost-effective total solution.
Schenck RoTec’s CENO is the perfect answer to the trend towards more fuel efficient engines with small crankshafts (“downsizing”) and is also an ideal machine, with which to take that initial step towards automation.
