Dürr to supply RoDip system to DaimlerChrysler

06/24/2004

The Dürr Group's Paint Systems business unit has received a major order from DaimlerChrysler worth about Euro 34 million.

Dürr will supply one system each for the pretreatment and dip-painting of truck cabs at DaimlerChrysler's plant in Wörth, Germany. In both cases, DaimlerChrysler has decided to use the innovative RoDip 3 rotation painting process, which offers cost and coating quality advantages. The Wörth order also calls for a primer painting line, including a paint recycling system, and the entire control technology. The new systems are to go into operation in mid-2005 and reach full capacity of about 400 units per day by the end of 2005.

"This order from DaimlerChrysler is another marketing breakthrough for our RoDip technology. In just three years' time, we have managed to establish RoDip as one of the leading processes for dip-painting and pretreatment. We will continue systematically developing RoDip in the future," emphasized Dr. Reinhold Grau, who is responsible for the Paint Systems business unit in Dürr AG's Board of Management.

The Dürr Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of production systems and manufacturing support services for the automotive industry. In 2003, Dürr achieved sales of about Euro 2.3 billion with about 12,750 employees.
