7,000th Dürr robot operates in China

08/29/2012

Assembly of EcoRP L033 robots at Dürr in Bietigheim-Bissingen

Shanghai General Motors (SGM) Wuhan benefits from proven Dürr technology.

Bietigheim-Bissingen, 29. August 2012 – SGM, a Chinese Automotive joint venture, after a positive experience with Dürr paint shops this year, have ordered two more at locations in Norsom III, in spring 2012, and now in Wuhan. Both paint shops are identical. Wuhan provides another highlight: the 7,000th Dürr painting robot.

As the general contractor, Dürr builds an energy- and resource-saving production facility with the latest technology.

Interior and exterior painting in the topcoat area is performed fully automatically with the anniversary robot and its 85 brothers. The exterior painting is done by 40 EcoRP L033 and the interior painting is realised by 16 EcoRP L 133 painting robots. Altogether 30 robots will be installed to open, hold and close doors and hoods. Before the painting process, each body is cleaned with emu feathers in the cleaning booth EcoClean F5. The high performance atomizer EcoBell2 HD, a successful atomizer for years, applies base coat and clear coat. Used for interior painting, this atomizer reaches higher application efficiency than an ordinary atomizer and additionally provides significant material savings.

The paint booth system EcoDryScrubber saves up to 60% of energy due to the innovative dry separation. The combination of dry separation and fully automatic paint application on the interior and exterior leads to a significant reduction in operating costs. This affects energy consumption as well as the consumption of paint.

In addition to that synergy effects from the predecessor project could be realised.
