Ford Places Its Stakes on Dürr Know-How

- Ford Valencia reduces emissions of pollutants with Dürr technology
- Base coat painting lines readjusted to non-polluting bell/bell process
Bietigheim-Bissingen, November 24, 2006 - New regulations for the reduction of emissions of pollutants (VOC) that will come into force in Spain in 2007 led Ford to investments in new plants and structural alteration measures in the Valencia factory. Dürr Systems Spain, S. A. received the order for that. The main target of the project is the introduction of paint materials with high solid matter content by October 2007.
In the first stage of the project, three existing base coat lines were equipped with a total of twelve EcoRP6 robots and EcoBell2 M atomizers. The conversion occurred during the production stop in the summer of this year. The base coat lines were readjusted to the bell/bell process that is currently being introduced in Europe. At the end of August, the production could be increased to its maximum - not only with the four agreed upon colours, but with the complete production colour range. "Key for the success" was the fact that all mechanical, electrical equipment and control components could be delivered according to Dürr standard.
In the present second project stage, three combustor plants for the reduction of the emissions of pollutants from the dryer will be delivered. Thus, it will be possible to undercut the pollutant concentrations prescribed by law from August 2007 on.
The introduction of base coat paint with high solid matter content will take place step by step before the final deadline of the project in October 2007. This way, sufficient time will be available for the optimization and adaptation of the new paint materials.
