Hanover Fair: Dürr partners Volkswagen in presenting 'Automation live'

Stuttgart, February 28, 2006 – From April 24 to 28 Dürr will be appearing at the Hanover Fair as part of the 'Automation live' event. 'Automation live' is a platform, initiated by VW, that will be used jointly by VW and selected suppliers to present innovative plant concepts and automation solutions for vehicle and component manufacture. Dürr will highlight two paint technology products:
• The 'Powerwall' 3D simulation system for paint shops. This virtual reality tool makes three dimensional visualization of the full painting process possible. Simulations that reflect reality so closely allow paint shop plan-ning time to be reduced whilst also identifying at an early stage the inter-face problems that can arise when a number of process stations are linked together. For Dürr customers 'Powerwall' represents cost savings in the form of optimum plant layouts and carefully checked processes.
• A robotic trim component painting station. The original model of this plant was supplied in 2005 to Inapal Plásticos of Palmea/Portugal; the station is used there to paint trim components for the new VW Eos convertible model. At the heart of the plant is a Dürr EcoRP6 F140 paint robot. This is a face-lifted version of the Eco RP robot, sales of which have already topped the 2,000 mark. The new version offers maximum flexibility of movement and is especially suited to the task of painting trim components in smaller booths.
