Dürr Ecoclean supports new approaches with Strategic Manufacturing Partners, LLC

Wixom, Michigan and Bowling Green, Ohio (USA), July 2008 – Dürr Ecoclean, a 100% subsidiary of Dürr AG, has received an order from US-based Strategic Manufacturing Partners (SMP), a division of MAG Industrial Automotive Group. The Dürr Ecoclean scope of supply will include automation, industrial washers, filtration systems and sub-assembly equipment. Notable for the program is the inclusion of engine sub-assembly equipment which Dürr Ecoclean recently reintroduced as a standard offering in its product mix.
The $7 Million (USD) order to Dürr Ecoclean is to support the manufacturing of V8 diesel compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder blocks. SMP is a newly formed business unit, located in the former Excello facility in Sterling Heights, with an annual capacity of up to 80,000 units per year. Dürr Ecoclean was selected as a strategic partner to SMP who is approaching manufacturing in a new way. Among many other benefits, the partnership promotes the utilization of standard products for total cost effectiveness with maximum reliability.
The turnkey order represents a major opportunity for Dürr Ecoclean to demonstrate again its capabilities as a systems supplier. Additionally, the SMP approach promotes equipment assembly and run-off on SMP’s own shop floor, eliminating the traditional setup and teardown at the supplier’s facility.
Dürr Ecoclean’s commitment to global product standardization and the advantage this brings to the market is evidenced by the large portion of standard products being supplied in this program. Floor automation and subassembly equipment will originate from Dürr Ecoclean’s Wixom, Michigan facility (USA) and will include standard PZR Conveyor produced by Dürr Ecoclean, Shanghai (China). Standard EcoCFlex washers are supplied by Dürr Ecoclean Monschau (Germany) while standard coolant filtration systems are being manufactured by Dürr Ecoclean’s facility in Bowling Green, Ohio (USA).
