What is a Platform?
The term platform describes a (software-) system which is used to implement a solution (Here: operating, monitoring and supervisory). The platform covers all aspects and provides all required functionality, so that the user can fully concentrate on his task.
Typically the platform provides mechanisms for redundant data access, alarming and data trending.
