Dürr AG wins major contract from DaimlerChrysler

Dürr AG, Stuttgart has won a contract totaling about DM 54 m (EUR 27 m) from DaimlerChrysler through its Paint Systems business unit for a new prime-coating facility (pretreatment and electrocoating) at the Sindelfingen plant.

DaimlerChrysler is making this investment to extend capacities for dip coating its current car models of the C-, E- and S-class and the new Maybach model. Commissioning is scheduled for January 2002.

The system contract encompasses a complete prime-coating and sealer line, including conveyor systems, a body washer for precleaning, a sealer line with robots, the switchgear and control system, plus recycling and environmental systems.

For the past fiscal year 2000, Dürr AG is expecting sales of well above EUR 1.7 bn and a double-digit growth rate. A preliminary report on the development of the fiscal year 2000 and an outlook for the year 2001 will be published by Dürr on January 24, 2001.
