Dürr Paint Systems Industrial gewinnt Aufträge im Gesamtwert von 70 Mio. Euro
12/02/2002
- Market shares in the automotive suppliers industry increased
- Percentage of high-quality trim parts from the automotive suppliers industry continues to increase
- Trend towards turnkey solutions
After winning several contracts for turnkey paint shops worth approx. 70 million euros altogether, the Dürr Technology Group has been able to significantly strengthen its market standing in the automotive suppliers market segment in the last few months.
The Paint Systems business unit will supply a turnkey paint shop for plastic bumpers including building and ancillary equipment to the automotive supplier Decoma-Belplas, Genk, Belgium. The high-quality coating is applied full-automatically with Dürr paint robots. The parts are delivered for the new Golf A5 and other customers in the automotive industry. Dürr will install another complete system for a Decoma operation in North America.
Dürr received another major contract for a plastic parts painting facility at Peguform in Oldenburg. This is where the parts for the plastic cladding of the new 4-door Smart are manufactured.
Dürr received a contract for painting chassis components from the French automotive supplier Faurecia, Redon. Further contracts were received from ACI, Le Mans, for painting axles, and from Valeo, Angers, for painting headlights. Dürr Paint Systems Industrial received several smaller contracts from Italy and India.
Business development in Dürr Paint Systems' automotive suppliers market segment is therefore well above expectations. The ABB and Alstom companies in France, USA and Germany that were integrated in the Paint Systems Industrial product line in the past few years and leading edge technologies in the areas of process, application, conveyor and control systems accounted substantially for this successful development. These components that were specially optimized for the automotive suppliers market segment had previously proved their performance in several reference plants.
Due to the general trend towards more modular build concepts and outsourcing, more and more trim parts are already supplied to the assembly line by tier1 suppliers as completely painted parts. In order to meet the high quality standards set by the automobile manufacturers, not lastly viewed against the backdrop of a growing proportion of vehicle bodies consisting of a mixture of materials, more and more component suppliers are opting for top technologies and turnkey solutions from a single source.
Paint Systems, with its four product lines Automotive, Industrial, Application and Environmental the largest Dürr business unit, was able to report strong growth in the first nine months of fiscal 2002, with incoming orders totaling 985.0 million euros compared to the comparable period of the previous year (673.8 million euros). Against the backdrop of a largely stable situation in large-volume projects, the Board of Management is expecting incoming orders and orders on hand for the Group as a whole in the entire year 2002 to be above the previous year's level.
The Dürr Technology Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of manufacturing systems and manufacturing support services for the automotive industry and its suppliers. Dürr employs approx. 12,500 people in 26 countries worldwide.
