- New customer and technology center
- Investments of around € 50 million planned
- Porsche takes over site and buildings in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen
Stuttgart, July 6, 2007 – Dürr will be expanding its location in Bietigheim-Bissingen on a large scale and by the year 2009 will create a technology and office complex providing modern workplaces for approximately 1,500 employees. The company will concentrate its paint, final assembly and environmental systems activities at the new “Dürr campus” and build a modern customer center. This will make for still more efficient internal processes and improve the communication between the individual units. Some 900 employees will be relocated to Bietigheim-Bissingen from the Stuttgart location. This is expected to take place in mid-2009. Dürr AG’s legal domicile will continue to be situated in Stuttgart. Neighboring Porsche will be taking over Dürr’s site and buildings in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
Dürr and Porsche signed a corresponding agreement on July 5, 2007. In Bietigheim-Bissingen, where 616 people are employed at present, Dürr expects to invest around € 50 million, especially in the construction of new buildings and alterations to the existing facilities. Construction work is planned to start in spring 2008.
In the layout of the site Dürr is pursuing a campus concept with interconnected buildings. Central to the design is a modern office approach with open-plan architecture and short distances. Improved, state-of-the-art ergonomic working conditions will be created for all employees. The new customer center also plays an important role in the plans for the new site. The existing paint technology center, which is the largest in the world, will also be enlarged, with the addition of facilities for final assembly.
Dürr’s CEO Ralf W. Dieter commented: “By concentrating Dürr’s business units at the one location our customers will perceive us even more strongly as one enterprise with competence to provide complete solutions. Moreover, no other competitor has an integrated customer and technology center of this scale for paint and final assembly systems – which is a clear competitive advantage.” “A special priority for us,” he added, “is that we create a new working environment for our employees and can therefore work more efficiently.”
