ORC - a technology with potential

Dürr Cyplan is a pioneer in the area of ORC technology in Germany. ORC stands for Organic Rankine Cycle - a method that uses waste heat to generate electricity by means of an evaporant process. The technology has great potential:

  • A number of different organic working fluids can be used for the evaporation process - depending on the temperature of the waste heat.
  • ORC systems operate at lower waste heat temperatures than steam turbines.
  • ORC technology is therefore particularly suitable for decentralized energy generation in small scale applications (up to 2 MWe).
  • ORC systems feature a simple design and small footprint.
  • As a result, they can be easily incorporated at a later stage to optimize the energy balance of existing equipment.
