Dürr installed the EcoRP4 L033L/R in August 2026. One of the first robots in the new generation, it works with the proven EcoBell4 rotary atomizer to apply primer precisely and efficiently to vehicle bodies while helping reduce material consumption and operating costs.
“The 20,000th painting robot from Dürr represents decades of experience in automated painting. The fact that this milestone has been reached with one of the first models from our new EcoRP4 generation underlines our commitment to consistently combining innovation and proven technology,” says Marcus Treppschuh, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing at Dürr.
EcoRP4 combines lower lifecycle costs with greater flexibility
Dürr designed the fourth-generation EcoRP4 painting robot to help automotive manufacturers reduce lifecycle costs while simplifying maintenance and increasing flexibility. The robot platform supports a variety of paint shop configurations, including floor-mounted and tower solutions, as well as linear-rail applications using the EcoRail X2 or EcoRail S2.
Dürr streamlined the EcoRP4’s mechanical design and reduced the number of components to simplify maintenance and lower lifecycle costs compared to the previous generation. At the same time, the company has retained proven process technology to deliver consistent, high-quality paint applications.
Dürr technologies improve transfer efficiency and reduce material consumption
Ford also uses several Dürr technologies in the new primer station to improve application efficiency and reduce material loss.
The EcoMCC3 A/B color changer works with Dürr’s latest atomizer generation, the EcoBell4 Pro 2x1K, to minimize paint and rinsing-agent losses. Dürr also applies its high-transfer-efficiency (HTE) process, which increases material transfer to the vehicle body and significantly reduces overspray.
The combination of EcoBell4 technology and the HTE process helps Ford reduce operating costs while lowering volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
20,000 robots reflect decades of automotive manufacturing experience
The delivery of Dürr’s 20,000th painting robot builds on the company’s long-standing presence in the Spanish automotive market. Spain received Dürr’s first painting robot in 1998, marking the beginning of a presence that continues today.
