Your Tasks

  • Manage department resources and assign personnel to execute specific field projects
  • Support the Sales and Project Management departments with defining scopes of work, estimating of installation costs and generation of field related manpower schedules
  • Review and or write Installation scope of work requirements for subcontract bid purposes
  • Provide support to field supervisors through challenging installations and client interactions
  • Manage cost saving opportunities related to the installation requirements of core products
  • Sizing of heavy equipment, such as cranes, for complex installations
  • Working with Product Managers in defining installation and repair procedures
  • Manage and maintain all departmental safety equipment
  • Support the pre-qualification of fabricators and installation contractors
  • Support the execution of emergency service work
  • Perform annual performance reviews of field supervisors
  • Maintain the skills and periodically perform the role of site supervisor
  • Manage department resources to minimize downtime and maximize departmental resource efficiencies
  • Manage installation budgets by developing a clear understanding of relevant scopes of work, supporting field personnel and keeping contractors on schedule
  • Ensure documentation all field activities to minimize the opportunity for subcontractor back charges
  • Supervise the team of field supervisors.
  • Develop individual performance goals for all direct reports.
  • Develop personal and departmental goals, including identification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • When self-performing assignments, responsible for the supervision of field resources during the installation or repairs of equipment.  Trades to be supervised are:
    • Mechanical riggers
    • Millwrights
    • Sheet metal fabricators & installers
    • Insulation and refractory installers
    • Civil & concrete
    • Ironworkers
    • Pipe fitters
    • Painters
    • Electricians

Your Skills

  • High School Diploma required
  • Ten or more years of fabrication and field service experience
  • Air pollution control equipment experience preferred
  • Extensive and detailed understanding of environmental systems design, trouble shooting, preventive maintenance and project management
  • Able to analyze complex installation & repair problems and generate safe and low cost solutions
  • Have best in class understanding of heavy equipment installation and rigging procedures
  • Develop and or review complex installation plans.  Maximize efficiency, safety and other cost savings strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC based control systems
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage remote Field Service personnel while supporting numerous Field Engineers simultaneously
  • Able to lead a site team consisting of multiple trades to the successful completion of equipment installation and repair assignments
  • Have fabrication skills and experience in the fields of sheetmetal, ironwork, piping, millwright, insulation & refractory, and painting
  • Have understanding of pneumatic, electric and hydraulic power systems
  • Able to generate detailed written summaries of daily activities
  • Analytical approach to developing solutions and decision making
  • Experience with personnel management of a small group
  • Have complete understanding of the Company safety program and apply that program to the management of the field operations department
  • Formally trained & certified in the Company safety program
  • CPR & first aid certified
  • Crane and forklift operator certification preferred
  • Welding certification preferred
  • Understanding of and ability to mange union requirements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Proficient with electronic scheduling (visual Planning)
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
