Environmental Technology

A growing world population, globalization, and the quest for prosperity in the face of dwindling resources make it more important than ever for us to protect our environment. There is no conflict between economic and environmental considerations in this respect. Only by successfully reducing resource consumption and cutting emissions will companies be able to operate profitably and bring prosperity and economic growth within reach of many people.

Modern environmental technology in plant engineering reduces emissions

The global environmental goal is to reduce CO2 emissions. We can help to stop CO2 emissions from increasing by improving energy efficiency and using environmentally friendly technologies.

Dürr makes an important contribution to reducing emissions in many sectors of industry, with systems based on processes such as thermal oxidation, catalytic oxidation, adsorption, and absorption. Dürr offers its customers:

  • An extensive portfolio of products
  • Compliance with all environmental legislation
  • More than 10.000 systems installed worldwide
  • Consultancy for individual industries
  • Lifetime servicing
  • Global support on site

Dürr designs and manufactures state-of-the-art systems that dispose of exhaust gases and residues efficiently, reduce energy consumption, and guarantee highly reliable processes. Dürr supplies complete solutions to an impressive standard of quality, from planning through to implementation and servicing. As a system partner, Dürr combines technological expertise with global availability to support its customers throughout the world.

For decades Dürr has been developing products and services to reduce the energy consumption and operating expenditure of its customers' plants and systems. Unused energy sources offer huge potential savings. For more than 50 years Dürr's environmental technologies have been responsible for the environmentally friendly and cost-effective disposal of pollutants in a wide range of industries.

Companies have to comply with a variety of different laws and regulations, from the German Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA-Luft) to the Federal Immission Control Act, which specify many environmental thresholds. The subject of air pollution control is becoming increasingly important for many businesses in their efforts to meet the requirements of legislation and avoid potential penalties.

One type of pollutant that is frequently referred to is volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These are emitted when a variety of solvents are processed and are an important component of dyes and paints. VOCs are released during the process of painting vehicle bodies, for example.

Another significant type of pollutant is formaldehydes. These are primarily used in adhesives for wooden furniture and can therefore be found in every household. In 2014 formaldehyde was classified as carcinogenic. Specific regulations have therefore been introduced to permanently reduce formaldehyde use and so limit the risks to human health.

Dürr offers a comprehensive range of Air Pollution Control Systems that remove all traces of these pollutants and many others from exhaust air. These systems are based on a number of different processes. In addition, manufacturing processes often produce liquids and solids that can only be disposed of by incineration. In these cases, special systems for the incineration of solids and liquids are needed, which are also available from Dürr.

Whether you are interested in air pollution control or in solids and liquid incineration, Dürr has all the information you need.
