  • New painting robot with cloud-enabled control

Dürr innovation show featuring "digital@DÜRR"

Bietigheim-Bissingen, October 24, 2016 – Production processes are digitally controlled, machines are networked and predict the need for maintenance in time, commissioning and training take place in a virtual space – at Dürr, Industry 4.0 is no longer a vision. From October 24, the company will host its tenth innovation show “Open House” under the "digital@DÜRR" banner, and demonstrate how far Dürr has come on its way towards digitization and connectivity of painting processes. One of the products showcased will be the new painting robot with cloud-enabled control. "We have been using digital processes for our customers' benefit for years", explained CEO Ralf W. Dieter. "We are specifically developing smart products, smart services and smart factories to help our customers increase their efficiency." Around 1,200 international guests from the automotive and other industries are expected to visit Dürr in Bietigheim-Bissingen until October 28.

The new EcoRP E043i painting robot has an additional seventh axis, which is a world first. This gives the robot a great range of motion and, in many cases, makes it possible to dispense with the travel rail in the paint booth. To complement this, Dürr has developed the smart EcoRCMP2 process and motion control.

Another focus is on smart products for predictive maintenance. The EcoPRO 4.X diagnostic tool evaluates a huge amount of data for large systems such as ovens or dip tanks. Any potential sources of error can be quickly identified and eliminated. EcoScreen Maintenance Assistant software monitors individual paint booths including their application products and robots.

Another product to be showcased at one of the 14 stations of the innovation show is the EcoPad tablet PC, which scans QR codes on machines and provides technical information within seconds. It establishes an audio-visual connection to Dürr's 24/7 hotline or provides support when ordering spare parts.

The new generation of ovens, EcoInCure, improves the quality of the paint finish and lowers energy consumption by up to 25 %. It heats and cools car bodies evenly from the inside once the paint has been applied. Another station will showcase the EcoReflect light tunnel. This enables the ergonomically enhanced and precise control of paint on the car body.

One ground-breaking software innovation is the iTAC.IoT.Suite. It contains a manufacturing execution system for the production control of entire factories as a basic function. It further offers innovative Industry 4.0 features such as big data analysis, cloud applications and – as a component of the Internet of Things – direct communication between intelligent machines. The iTAC.IoT.Suite replaces the previous EcoEMOS manufacturing execution system offered by Dürr. The new software is the result of the cooperation between Dürr and the software company iTAC, which was acquired at the end of 2015.

In the field of paint and high-viscosity material application, Dürr will present, among other things, its EcoBell3 Cx atomizer for painting plastic parts. Another topic is the effective project execution of complex new builds and modifications. As an example, Dürr will present the modernization of a paint shop in China, completed within just six weeks.

Energy-efficiency products will also be represented. Here Dürr will inform visitors about the use of the energy-efficient thermeco2 heat pump for bodywork drying in paint shops.
