Operating principle Ecopure® SWI
The first stage of the incineration process for hazardous waste using the Ecopure® SWI is the storage and preparation of the waste. The various substances must be stored in accordance with the relevant requirements and, if necessary, crushed and homogenized. The objective is to provide the incineration plant with a continuous supply of mixed waste that makes the best possible use of the plant's capacity in terms of pollutants, heating value, and throughput.
Special feed systems transport the various waste materials to the incineration plant. The key features of this process are its operational safety and ease of maintenance.
The plant processes the waste at a temperature of over 1100°C. This guarantees that the substances are converted cleanly and safely. The fully oxidized solid residues are removed using a wet ash handling system.
The heat from the hot combustion gases is reused in a waste heat boiler. The boiler has been specially designed with generously sized open flues, gaps between the ducts, and an effective cleaning function to avoid the build-up of solid residues.
The flue gas is purified in a separate multistage process. First of all, the ash, heavy metals, dioxins, and some acidic gas components are removed by a sorption filter using additives based on activated carbon and calcium hydroxide. In the next stage the sulfur is removed from the flue gas with a wet scrubber. Depending on the customer's requirements, nitrogen oxide levels can be reduced using a catalytic (SCR) or non-catalytic process (SNCR).
The purified exhaust gases pass safely through a chimney before being emitted into the environment. The quality of the gases is permanently monitored with a complex emission measuring system.
