Dürr's EcoRS Generation 2 combines process quality and flexibility in the paint shop

New robot platform for sealing applications

Bietigheim-Bissingen, September 14, 2026 – With the EcoRS Generation 2, Dürr is introducing a new robot platform for a variety of paint shop applications. The series includes four robot models designed for different load capacities and reach requirements, combining high process quality with reduced complexity in planning, operation, and service.

The new EcoRS series includes four robot models with load capacities ranging from 20 to 150 kg and reach distances of up to 3,100 mm. The series covers a wide range of sealing, cleaning, and handling applications in paint shops. Thanks to its standardized design, numerous applications can be implemented using a single, unified platform. For customers, this simplifies system planning, spare parts management, and service processes throughout the equipment’s operational lifespan. “With the new EcoRS generation, we are establishing a standardized platform for sealing applications. Customers benefit from high process quality, maximum availability, and significantly reduced complexity throughout the entire lifecycle,” says Martin Wurst, Product Manager at Dürr.

Designed specifically for the paint shop
The EcoRS robots were specifically developed for processes in the paint shop. The combination of robotics, control systems, and application technology tailored to these applications enables high path accuracy, consistent material application, and consistently high seam quality in the sealing area, particularly for fine-seam applications. This ensures stable and reproducible sealing processes that meet the increasing demands for visible and functional seams in modern vehicle bodies. In addition, the enlarged work envelope provides greater flexibility for different vehicle models and future vehicle programs.

Greater flexibility with a reduced interference contour
Among the most important advancements in the EcoRS Generation 2 are internal motors for axes 3 through 6 and internal cabling. This reduces the robot’s interference contour and improves cleanability. At the same time, the robots’ space requirements and weight have also been reduced.

Unlike conventional solutions, the EcoRS robots and the associated application technology have been specifically designed to work together. The close integration of robot kinematics, control, and process technology ensures high repeatability and supports reliable operation.

Unified control and software architecture
With EcoRS, robots, controls, and applications all come from a single source. The platform uses the same control technology as Dürr’s painting robotics and is fully integrated into the Dürr control architecture and the DXQ platform. This creates a seamless system landscape within the painting line. Operators can transparently analyze process and operational data across various areas of the facility and identify opportunities for optimization at an early stage. At the same time, the standardized control architecture simplifies integration into existing production environments.

Higher availability with lower operating costs
Standardization of the portfolio simplifies maintenance, service and troubleshooting. Fewer spare-part variants and reduced inventory levels lower operating costs and contribute to lower total cost of ownership. At the same time, the unified platform and the robots’ robust design increase system availability and support cost-effective system operation throughout the entire life cycle.
