Electrical / Controls Engineer – Customer Support Specialist

Detailing and electrical software engineer (hardware and software) for industrial control systems.

Your Tasks:

  • Follow designs through to equipment fabrication, software code testing, and on-site startup / debug
  • Attend and/or conduct design reviews
  • Support and assist installation and production on site, also during commissioning, start-up, ramp-up and full production phases
  • Support on-site installation team as required
  • Lead small project team of electrical engineers
  • Attend customer meetings to understand project requirements
  • Communicate with project team, customers, and suppliers
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Commission installed designs
  • Troubleshoot electrical installation, both hardware and software
  • Maintain and update checkout documentation
  • Availability to travel when necessary and stay out of the base office during site activities where the project(s) is/are located (USA)
  • Predict, identify, and resolve potential or actual design problems
  • Travel approximately 50%

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Your Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Two or more years of position related experience
  • Able to interpret NEC and local codes
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Skilled in PLC and graphic user interface programming, networking.
  • Programming Siemens S7 a must. Knowledgeable in Rockwell ControlLogix.
  • Network systems including Profibus, ProfiNet, EthernetIP.
  • Graphic user interface & SCADA applications for Siemens: WinCC and WinCC Explorer
  • Proficient in drive controls
  • SEW Eurodrives: Movitools, motors/servos, inverters
  • Experienced in PLC programming, graphic user interface programming, computer operating systems, and networking
  • Experienced in selection and troubleshooting of instrumentation and process control
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Vision
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to lead small groups in a project
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
